Encompassing two historic buildings and a large garden, La Plaza de Cultura y Artes is a free Mexican-American museum and cultural center situated in the Los Angeles Plaza Historic District, where Los Angeles was “founded.” Exhibits highlight Mexican-American culture and artists, with a walkable reproduction of a 1920s Mexican-American community on the second floor. Cultural events include a wide range of music, film, and cuisine, so check online for the latest lineup (the site can be buggy, so use Twitter as a backup: @LAPlazaLA).
