Eat, Drink | $$$$$
Helmed by one of the city’s most forward-thinking vegetarian chefs, Dirt Candy turns a typical dinner into a spectacle. Carnivores won’t miss the meat as greenmarket carrots are transformed into sliders and everyday broccoli is twice-fried and tossed in Korean-style sauce. More sophisticated eaters, though, will naturally gravitate to the sleek dining room, curated wine list, and seasonally driven dishes like mushroom portobello mousse and the onion chocolate tart. An offbeat brunch—it’s hard to compete with an entrée called Green Huevos & No Ham—and a weekly Canadian pop-up bar further prove that this Lower East Side establishment has something for everyone.
